Blood Bowl Team begins anew...

Hi all, now I know its only been a few months since I finished my Chaos Blood Bowl team but I've started on another. A couple of others actually. I will still be playing Chaos for the foreseeable future but I have started making a few other teams, mostly because I really enjoy converting them. I have a Skaven, Dark Elf and Necromantic team in the works but today I'll be posting a few pics of the Norse team I've been working on. I recently received an order from Thomarillion for some dungeon accessories. Specifically some barrels and some mugs and bottles. (You may be able to see where this is going). I've been waiting for these because I bought some Chaos Marauders some time ago to convert but I wanted something more ... so without further ado here's some pics of the current work in progress.

The first pic is of my two runners on either side and my thrower in the centre. The second pic is my two blitzers. Famous for being able to carry an entire keg into battle and still manage to play blood bowl. I absolutely love how these guys are turning out so stay tuned for more pics once I start work on my linemen, ulfwerners and of course some Viking cheerleaders.

Play it Painted Sept part 2

Well it's done. I still have the extra magnetised arms for the Avenger to paint up but they're basecoated and on my list of things to finish. I also completely assembled and have started painting a Skaven Blood Bowl team. They're very easy to put together out of a Night Runners box and still have a lot of variety. I also picked up a Rat Ogre off of ebay, a leftover from the Island of Blood kit. All in all they're coming together nicely. The different players all have different looks so it's easy to spot what role each fills on the field. Pics of them to come ... for now here is my finished PiP challenge. Fingers crossed I win something out of this.

Play it Painted September

Well I'm going to take another crack at PIP this month as an excuse to finally get a couple of models I have sitting around painted. This month its Warjacks and Warbeasts ... I just finished magnetising up my Cygnar Avenger/Hammersmith/Centurion so it's a good excuse as any. I also found my Swamp Troll so there's another one I completely forgot about. I'm also going to throw in the Steelsoul Keg Protector, one of the special editions from Privateer Press. Mostly because I like the model and its a good excuse as any. Here's my before pics. Now to wait for the afters...

Blood Bowl team ready to play

Well it seems like only yesterday (or maybe the day before) I was putting up my WIP post about getting my team finished on my days off... well its done. Except for two Chaos Warriors and basing my cheerleaders. But enough of a team to be ready to play! So here are the final shots of my team and support staff. I will be looking into playing a few games while I work on my last two members of the team.

Blood Bowl WIP 2

Hi all, its been a while. I've been up to a lot since I last posted. Went to Canada and saw two very good friends get married. Put in a decent amount of work on Tyranids, Space Marines and even some Cygnar. Played a couple of great games of Hordes/Warmachine against some of the guys from work. And last of all ... finally sat down and finished modelling the last couple of guys I need to round out my Blood Bowl team.

I'm still waiting of greenstuff to set on the last ones but they're looking great and I cannot wait to paint them all up (hopefully the next two days as I have them off work). Then all I have left to do is start looking for a few friendly games to get me back in the saddle as it were.

You can spot the new guys from the lack of a basecoat and the other half finished ones dotted around. On the far right is my Team Manager a.k.a. The Devil, contract in hand ready to sign up new talent, and behind him my two beastwomen cheerleaders. They've been moved down the list of things to paint as I really want to get this team up and running first.

With a little luck the next post you get from me will include a run down on my first game of blood bowl in over a decade... wish me luck!

Blood Bowl WIP

Well I've started work on a Blood Bowl team. As you might have seen in a previous post I mentioned that the devil model I had worked on was going to double as a team manager for my BB team I figured I should also start on my team.

I give you ... The Bloodthirsty Badgers (or part thereof) currently consisting of only 4 models out of the planned 14 (eventually 16) and their mighty team mascot, the fearsome Chaos Warbadger.

Needless to say there is a lot more work to come and there are a half dozen more models waiting for more greenstuff work before being primed and painted but hopefully I will get there in time. If not for this years Chaos Cup (which would be fantastic) then for the next Sandgroper.

Objectifying

Hey all,
Decided I needed to get started on my objective markers (still going on play it painted challenge, just felt like a bit of a quick break). I bought a few from Secret Weapon Miniatures a while ago to use with my 'Nids and they're ridiculously easy to paint up and have looking good. The other one that I made up I've been playing around with for a little while now. I picked up a little demon guy from the Blood Throne of Khorne for $1 from a bits auction and wanted to use him for something special. I decided to mock up an objective as the Devil buying souls. Whoever holds it gets the luxury of selling their soul for wealth, fame whatever at the end of the match. I also figured when I get my blood bowl team off the ground (Chaos) he would make an excellent team manager.

These are the Tyranid objective markers, simply based with black with a tiny dry brush of silver then washed in the same colour as the egg (helps get that wet shiny look for the alien bases) then red wash in the open eggs touched up with a little bit of colour afterwards. I think they look quite sufficiently 'Nid like.

This is my Devil objective marker. Based with a pile of skulls the scroll is left over from a venerable dreadnought. The tail was green stuff, the head I trimmed down as well for the more classic devil look. His pitchfork is actually cut down from the original figures sword with some plastic rod used in the middle for length. I'm really happy with how he turned out. I also think he'll look great as a team manager for a chaos blood bowl team.

Play it Painted

Hi all,
This month (after joining Westgamer) I have decided to join in with their Play it Painted challenge. For this month I am pledging to finish painting 4 warcaster/warlocks that have been sitting around waiting for me to find the time. I think the idea they've come up with is a brilliant plan to motivate uninspired painters (such as myself). If you enter a pledge and complete it in the given month you will recieve entries in a raffle to win a warmachine/hordes model of your choice (within a certain range, this month its Solo's, so no free Gargantuans).

My pledge is to paint Kara Sloan, Borka Kegslayer, Grim Angus and Grissel Bloodsong. I will attempt to keep you all up to date with how things progress.

In related news I have started painting my Space Marine Librarian in Terminator Armor. Again, I will keep you all posted.

Mike out.

Saturday 9 March 2013

Long time, No post.

Well its been a while. I have played an epic Apocalypse game (Thanx Boyd and Owen for organizing) and the Evil Alliance won out. I have decided since I am over all pretty happy with how my 'Nids are playing that I would start (very slowly I might add) on a space marine army. I am in no way rushed to get these guys to the table like I was with the 'nids, being my first army and all. I am customizing a lot of models, mostly just kitbashing. I have just put up my first 'tutorial' where I will walk you through my Librarian in Terminator armor that I put together. One thing I am very immovable on in my army. Everyone keeps their helmet on at all times. Its war. Who wants to catch a bullet in the head? However seeing as GW doesn't offer some of their models with helmets I have had to improvise. Either make one of my own to stand in, or grind out some finecast and put a helmet in, in place of their head.

Pictures and colour schemes will follow. Im playing the Nemesis chapter from the second founding because there is next to no background, colour scheme, etc on these guys. So I won't offend anyone if I mess something up.
