A long gap and Frostgrave!

Yet again, it's kind of been a while since I posted last. As always it takes something new to fire up my imagination and get me painting again. I've been working through a fair few miniatures for IKRPG which has been a lot of fun. We're running an Iron Kingdoms FMF and an Unleashed campaign side by side.

On another note I was interested a while ago when i saw a 'Nickstarter' for Frostgrave which looked like fun but I didn't have the funds to back it at the time. Since then I saw the basic rule book on Book Depository for $28 and thought "Why not?"

I read a fair few reviews and watched a battle report or two and decided to take the plunge. The big selling point was that I had backed Reaper Mini's Bones II kickstarter a while back and had a big box of random mini's that would be perfect for this game. I've been reading through the book and writing up a couple of different wizards.

Once I started looking at a couple of different 'builds' (this game has so many different combinations for your wizard.) I decided to raid the Bones box to see what I could use. I decided to paint up two different pairs of Wizard and Apprentice. One pair is a Necromancer with his little buddy and the other is an Elementalist with his showboating apprentice.

Necromancer is in purple with his apprentice in green. Elementalist is in red with his apprentice in blue.

And once again from the back.

Couldn't resist a zoomed in shot of the necromancer raising a friendly zombie to aid him.

I will probably work on a warband soon (or more likely paint up another wizard and apprentice), and hopefully pick up a game or two, either against the guys from work/ikrpg or pick up a game at one of the wargaming clubs around town.

Wrath continued...

Just a quick update. Finished my two Longhorns for Nasier. I have decided to do the Nasier with Japanese Kabuki style masks and in the same theme the others as Oni. Hence these two, one fire and one water. The others will be along similar lines but I cannot wait to get more painted up. The Hadross side are also still coming along. Deepman Kaxes and Guardian coming up next.

Wrath of Kings

As always it's been a while. Life has a tendency to get in the way of regular blogging. However when something new comes along I want to share it. I kickstarted Wrath of Kings a long time ago and have been eagerly awaiting my models. I backed Hadross and Nasier. I've been assembling away and honestly (and I've read some complaints that the models are fiddly and hard to put together) I find that they fit phenomenally well. None of the gaps that you get from Privateer Press (I love their stuff but sometimes the pieces really don't fit well).

I'm hoping to get a few games out as there is a small community of other kickstarters here in Perth, but until then I will continue painting and preparing my force.

To begin with, I've painted up some of my fish people ... well crab people and jellyfish men.

I will also add that this has been my first attempt at non-metallic metals and I am quite happy with the results. Gives a different look to the models that I really like.
